Civil Engineering Practice Leader (Land / Site Development – Private Sector)

West Palm Beach, FL
A well-established, nationally recognized civil engineering consulting firm is seeking a Practice Leader to build, lead, and grow its private land development practice in the West Palm Beach market.
This is a true leadership opportunity for someone who wants to run a business unit
, not just manage projects. You’ll have the autonomy to shape the team, drive client relationships, and play a key role in expanding the firm’s presence in South Florida.
This individual will lead a team of Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers focused on single-family residential and site development projects
, while also driving business development and client growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the design and delivery of land development projects including:
- Paving, grading, drainage
- Water, sanitary sewer, and storm systems
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Oversee project financials including budgets, schedules, and invoicing
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team
- Ensure quality control and consistency across all deliverables
This is a highly visible role with direct impact on both project execution and long-term business growth

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- 15+ years of experience in land/site development design
- Strong background in single-family residential/subdivision development
- 10+ years of experience at the Senior PM or leadership level
- Proven success in business development and client growth
- Proficiency with tools such as:
- Civil 3D / AutoCAD
- HEC-HMS, StormCAD, or similar modeling software
- Experience working with municipalities, counties, and local agencies
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- True leadership role with the ability to build and shape a practice
- Strong existing platform with resources to support growth
