The Packaging Specialist is responsible for sourcing, validating, and managing packaging components from concept through production. This is a technical and operational role focused on packaging procurement, material compatibility, and vendor coordination. You will act as the bridge between internal teams, customers, and external vendors to ensure all packaging components meet production requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Packaging Sourcing & Procurement- Source packaging components including bottles, caps, labels, pouches, sachets, and cartons through approval and production readiness
- Work directly with vendors to obtain quotes, lead times, and material specifications
- Identify cost-effective packaging solutions without compromising quality or performance
- Manage vendor relationships and maintain a network of reliable packaging suppliers
- Apply technical knowledge of packaging materials, structures, and specifications
- Conduct fill tests to confirm packaging compatibility with gummy products and production equipment
- Evaluate material performance including sealing, durability, barrier properties, and functionality
- Troubleshoot packaging issues related to material structure, fit, or machine compatibility
- Communicate packaging requirements clearly with suppliers and print vendors
- Review proofs, specs, and samples to ensure alignment with production standards
- Coordinate timelines for sampling, production runs, and deliveries
- Ensure all materials meet quality and compliance standards before production handoff to the Packaging Planner for fulfillment
- Ensure packaging components are production-ready and aligned with equipment capabilities
- Work closely with internal teams including operations, engineering, and quality
- Support new product launches by securing and validating packaging on tight timelines
- Monitor packaging performance during runs and flag any issues
- Track multiple packaging projects from sourcing through production
- Maintain clear communication across teams to ensure deadlines are met
- Stay ahead of potential delays and proactively find solutions
- Experience in packaging procurement, packaging development, or print production
- Strong understanding of packaging materials (films, labels, bottles, closures, etc.)
- Experience working with vendors and managing timelines
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments and production equipment is a plus
- Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
