Dress for Success Palm Beaches is part of a global nonprofit network with nearly 150 affiliates in 25 countries, focused on empowering individuals to achieve economic independence. Since 2010, the Palm Beaches affiliate has grown significantly, serving more than 5,000 women in a region where the poverty rate for women approaches 20 percent. The organization collaborates with over 100 partner referral agencies and offers programs such as professional suiting, job readiness training, virtual coaching, and a professional women’s networking group.
The Young Executives for Success (YES! Palm Beaches) group provides social networking and fundraising opportunities to support the mission. Dress for Success Palm Beaches is recognized with the 2020 Guide Star Platinum Seal of Transparency and is supported by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.
The Director of Development is a full-time, on-site role based in West Palm Beach, FL, responsible for leading and expanding all fundraising and development activities to sustain and grow the organization’s programs. This role oversees the creation and implementation of a comprehensive development plan, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate and foundation support, planned giving initiatives, and special events. Day-to-day responsibilities include cultivating and stewarding donors, managing fundraising campaigns, preparing grant proposals and reports, tracking development metrics, and coordinating with the Executive Director and board on philanthropic strategy.
The Director of Development will manage the development budget, collaborate with program and communications staff to align messaging with fundraising goals, and engage community partners and groups such as YES! Palm Beaches to increase visibility and philanthropic support. The role also involves maintaining accurate donor records, social media oversight,ensuring compliance with fundraising best practices, and representing the organization at community and networking events.
- Proven experience in fundraising and philanthropy, including the ability to build and maintain strong donor relationships.
- Demonstrated success with annual giving programs and campaigns, including donor segmentation and stewardship.
- Knowledge of planned giving strategies and practices, with the ability to communicate options clearly to donors and stakeholders.
- Strong budgeting, grant writing and financial management skills related to development activities and revenue forecasting.
- Experience with donor databases/CRM systems, grant writing, and fundraising analytics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Masters Degree preferred.
- Commitment to the mission of advancing economic independence and equity, and experience working in or with diverse communities.
