Responsibilities
Full‑time, 40‑hour a week day‑shift opportunity with potential overtime and additional shifts for interested candidates.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing and completion of an accredited RN First Assistant program that includes didactic and supervised clinical practice, based on AORN's core curriculum for the RNFA.
- 3‑5 years of experience in perioperative nursing.
- Registered nurse licensed to practice in Florida, with OR certification (CNOR) from AORN or eligibility to complete the supervised hours required to sit for the RNFA certification exam within 90 days of employment.
- Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a specialized registered nurse whose practice extends perioperative nursing. The RNFA provides the surgical team with assistance in the operating room and similar settings, utilizing technical skills to assist the surgeon with intraoperative procedures beyond the scope of practice for registered nurses without RNFA education and training. The RNFA performs comprehensive preoperative patient care management, intraoperative surgical first assisting, and postoperative patient care management, working interdependently with the surgeon and applying knowledge, skill, and judgment necessary to ensure safe operation outcomes for all patients.
The RNFA provides patient care for all ages and provides leadership and direction to the perioperative team during the perioperative phase as needed. The RNFA does not concurrently function as the scrub nurse.
