Job OverviewThe Loss Prevention Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, associates, and visitors. This position is responsible for monitoring hotel operations, preventing loss or damage to property, and ensuring compliance with safety and security standards.
Serving as a visible and approachable presence throughout the property, the Loss Prevention Officer combines vigilance with hospitality and protecting the hotel while delivering a calm, professional, and guest focused experience. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively in a variety of situations.
ResponsibilitiesPatrol the hotel property and surrounding areas.
Monitor CCTV cameras and security systems.
Respond promptly to guest, associate, and emergency calls.
Complete accurate incident and accident reports.
Enforce hotel safety and security policies.
Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas.
Assist with Lost & Found procedures.
Report safety hazards and suspicious activity.
Support emergency response procedures and evacuations.
Monitor overnight activity throughout the property.
Communicate incidents and important information to the incoming shift.
Provide professional guest service while maintaining a secure environment.
Education/Formal Training
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience
- Previous experience in security, hospitality, customer service, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours.
Knowledge/Skills
Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.
Experience operating CCTV cameras, surveillance systems, and digital incident reporting software.
Effective use of portable radios and standard radio communication protocols.
Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Ability to recognize signs of drug and alcohol impairment or abuse.
Secondary language skills are a plus.
Excellent verbal communication skills for clear interaction with guests, associates, and management.
Strong written literacy and comprehension skills for drafting accurate, detailed incident reports and daily security logs.
Excellent auditory perception to communicate clearly via portable radio and assist guests in high-volume environments.
Strong visual acuity for performing safety inspections, detecting hazards, and responding to emergencies.
