Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Field Welder is a skilled structural professional responsible for executing critical welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks required for the construction and repair of seawalls, pump stations, docks, and other marine structures. This position requires a versatile welder capable of delivering high-quality welds in challenging field environments, including working over water, off construction barges, and from scaffolding. The role primarily focuses on structural stick welding (SMAW) for heavy civil and marine structures, alongside routine equipment repair and maintenance both on the job site and back at the company shop.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven experience as a structural field welder, preferably within heavy civil, bridge, or marine construction environments.
  • Strong proficiency in structural stick welding (SMAW) utilizing 6010 and 7018 rods across all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
  • Working knowledge of carbon arc welding/gouging and standard wire-feed processes (MIG/FCAW) is a plus, though stick welding is the primary focus.
  • Highly proficient in using industrial fabrication tools, including torch cutting equipment, angle grinders, and chipping tools.
  • Ability to weld safely and effectively in demanding environments: over water, off construction barges, and hanging from scaffolding or staging.
  • Absolute reliability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work seamlessly as part of a tight-knit field crew.
  • Formal AWS certification is not required; practical field capability and passing an in-house weld test are mandatory.
