Heavy Equipment Operator

About the Role

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe, environmentally sound and efficient daily operation of the facility and the industrial systems and equipment associated with Reworld's processes in a fast-paced environment with three MSW processing lines. This position primarily operates an excavator to maintain a consistent feed to three Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) processing lines while ensuring safe material handling, maximizing throughput, minimizing downtime, and supporting overall plant operations.

• Operate an excavator to safely feed the MSW processing lines throughout the shift.
• Maintain a steady material flow to maximize processing efficiency and prevent line interruptions.
• Sort and separate oversized or non-processable materials before feeding the lines.
• Separate unacceptable materials that could damage processing equipment or create safety hazards.
• Assist Process Operators with clearing plugs and material blockages safely and efficiently.
• Move, organize, and manage waste on the tipping floor to maintain safe traffic flow and adequate fuel inventory.
• Load and unload trailers, containers, and designated waste piles as directed.
• Perform daily routine inspections of assigned equipment and fills out necessary log sheets according to procedures.
• Perform troubleshooting on equipment and report all malfunctioning equipment through the issuance of work orders.
• Perform checks as required by the weekly activities book, the monthly critical items check list, etc.
• Perform lockout and tagout of equipment in support of maintenance activities.
• Maintains proper fuel, lubricant and oil levels for operation of assigned equipment.
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment and an orderly work area.
• Determine the tools, parts, supplies, and equipment necessary to perform assigned jobs.
• Participate in safety meetings, training, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement activities.
• Additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.

• GED/High School Diploma, preferred
• Valid driver's license
• Must have experience operating Excavator, heavy industrial equipment, mechanical experience preferred.
• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment around personnel and moving vehicles.
• Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and environmental compliance.
• Assist in emergency response situations when required.
• Previous experience with rigging.
• Previous excavator experience.

The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable).

Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: 22.79 - 30.34 USD per hour.
