Role Description

The Vactor Truck Operator is a full‑time, on‑site role located in West Palm Beach, FL. This role is responsible for safely operating a Vactor or vacuum truck to clean and maintain storm drains, sewer lines, catch basins, and other underground or industrial systems. Day‑to‑day tasks include driving the truck to job sites, setting up hoses and equipment, performing vacuum and jetting operations, and following all safety procedures and environmental regulations.

The operator will complete basic equipment inspections, routine maintenance checks, and accurate service documentation and logs. The role also involves communicating with team members and supervisors, assisting with traffic control or site preparation as needed, and responding to scheduled and emergency service calls in varying weather and field conditions.

Qualifications
  • Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles and heavy equipment, including Vactor or vacuum trucks, with strong driving skills and adherence to DOT and company safety standards.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical functions, routine equipment inspections, and minor troubleshooting to keep trucks and tools in safe working condition.
  • Capacity for physical work, including lifting, bending, working in confined spaces or outdoor environments, and following safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail for completing service reports, job tickets, and maintenance records, and for following written procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with crew members, supervisors, and customers at job sites.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL with appropriate endorsements is preferred or may be required depending on equipment.
  • Prior experience in utility services, sewer and drain cleaning, industrial cleaning, or related field work is beneficial.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, or on‑call shifts to support emergency jobs.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, reliability, and a professional attitude toward customers and colleagues.
