Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Heavy Equipment Mechanic role based in West Palm Beach, FL. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy construction equipment used in underground utility and road projects, including excavators, loaders, trucks, and related machinery. Daily tasks include performing preventive maintenance, conducting safety and performance checks, completing equipment and vehicle service records, and responding to equipment issues on job sites.

The role involves troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems, coordinating repairs with supervisors, and ensuring equipment is available and reliable to support field operations. The mechanic will follow company safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and collaborate with project teams to minimize equipment downtime.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance to perform routine inspections, servicing, and preventive care.
  • Hands-on experience with Equipment Repair and Heavy Equipment, including diagnosing and fixing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of construction-site safety practices and willingness to adhere to company safety and drug-free workplace policies.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
  • Relevant technical training or certification in diesel mechanics, automotive, or heavy equipment technology preferred.
  • Previous experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic in construction or utilities environments strongly beneficial.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, lift heavy parts and tools, and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, and climbing.
  • Reliable transportation and capacity to work full time with occasional overtime as project needs require.
