Job Description
SMArtX Advisory Solutions is seeking a senior‑level AWS Cognito Engineer to join its growing engineering team in the financial technology space. This role is focused on designing, implementing, and owning the identity and access management (IAM) layer for cloud‑native applications, with Amazon Cognito serving as the core identity platform.
Ideal PR: $24-$28 USD/HR
This is a high‑ownership role for an engineer who has implemented, supported, and scaled Cognito in production environments and can act as a technical authority on authentication, authorization, and OAuth‑based identity flows. You will work across the stack and partner closely with product, design, and engineering to deliver secure, reliable, and high‑performance solutions.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong, hands‑on experience with AWS Cognito, including implementation, customization, and long‑term support in production environments.
Demonstrated experience owning IAM architectures, not just integrating them.
Deep understanding of authentication vs authorization, OAuth 2.0 grant types, JWTs, claims, scopes, and groups.
Proficiency with C#/.NET Core and Python.
Strong experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
4+ years working with relational databases (SQL Server and/or Postgre
SQL).3+ years building cloud‑native applications on AWS.
3+ years working with Docker or containerized applications.
Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
- AWS certifications.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git Hub Actions, and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform knowledge preferred but not required).
Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.
Experience migrating from legacy identity solutions (e.g., Identity Server) to Cognito.
Comfort acting as the IAM subject‑matter expert and influencing architectural decisions.
