Assistant Golf Professional

Overview

Ensures that members and guest golfers receive exceptional service with all their golfing needs including but not limited to merchandise, tournaments, check-in, club-fitting, instruction, cart & club rental and other day‑to‑day operations. Assists with the coordination of leagues, major tournaments, clinics, golf schools and other golf events. Work with the Director of Golf executing the golf programming in both event and instructional settings.

• High golf knowledge of the game, etiquette, handicapping, rules, tournaments, and teaching are a must for this position.
• Knowledge of tournament preparations and procedure.
• Requires excellent communication skills and time management skills.
• Requires strong knowledge of USGA & PGA programs and eligibility to participate in the PGA Golf Professional Training Program.
• Requires a strong playing and teaching background.
• Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
• Plan, organize, direct and coordinate all equipment services and repairs.
• Supervise and directs daily activities of the mechanical staff.
• Manage and prioritizes all equipment records and parts inventory; budget for equipment and maintenance shop.
• Maintain a preventive maintenance program and order parts and shop supplies within the approved budget as needed.
• Coordinate services and repairs with supervisors; recommends equipment purchases or lease and review of equipment for performance on the course, completes emergency repairs to equipment on the course.
• Service and supervise the servicing of equipment prior to use.
• Instruct golf course maintenance team members regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
• Ensure all equipment is in compliance with OSHA and other government regulations and ensures that no equipment is operated with safety features broken or absent and manages the repair shop to ensure its safe operation.

• Assist the Head Golf Professional, Director of Golf Operations and First Assistant Golf Professional in maintaining tee times advanced bookings, committee meetings, Member/Guests and other programs and events and teaching individual, junior, and group lessons.
• Collaborate with Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional to organize and run golf leagues. Assist in the set up and run club tournaments for the entire golf membership.
• Work with the Director of Instruction on establishing regular clinics, golf school and one-on-one instructional settings.
• Create and develop a productive staff that monitors pace of play on both courses while communicating to members, rangers and starters.
• Ensure that members and guests have an enjoyable time while on the golf course and enforces security for members and guests pertaining to who is and is not to be on the golf course.
• Manage staff responsibilities including and updating daily checklists, updating software, scheduling, payroll and conducting meetings.
• Investigates and resolves complaints of membership.
• Assist in the development of golf revenues.
• Management of the member handicap program.
• Responsible for both golf courses and practice facility direct supervision of the following:
  Making sure hazards are painted and staked properly, Out of Bounds are staked properly, maintaining any ground under repair, maintaining tee times and pace of play in coordination with starter on a daily-bases and in coordination with Outside Operations Manager, Head Golf Professional, and Director of Golf develop schedule for Practice Tee rotation to best utilize turf conditions.
• Communicates with members, co-workers, management and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
• Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
• Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of the Bear Lakes Country Club.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Golf Operations.
