Warehouse Associate – Slab Handling & Forklift Experience

Position Summary
Ceramic Matrix is seeking an experienced Warehouse Associate to join our operations team. This position will primarily support the receiving, storage, handling, and loading of natural stone, quartz, porcelain slabs, tile, and related materials
.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a stone, slab, tile, counter top, or similar heavy-material warehouse environment and must be comfortable operating forklifts and handling large, fragile, and high-value materials safely.
Because of the size, weight, and value of the products we handle,
previous slab-handling experience is strongly preferred
.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely receive, unload, move, store, and load natural stone, quartz, porcelain slabs, tile, and related products.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse material-handling equipment safely and responsibly.
- Handle large-format stone and porcelain slabs using appropriate equipment and established safety procedures.
- Load and unload trucks and containers while minimizing the risk of product damage.
- Select and stage slabs and tiles for customer orders, transfers, deliveries, and pickups.
- Assist customers, drivers, and sales staff with the safe viewing and movement of slab materials when required.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing material for visible damage, cracks, chips, or other issues and immediately report discrepancies.
- Verify product quantities, lot numbers, labels, and order information before material is moved or released.
- Maintain organized and safe slab storage areas, racks, aisles, loading areas, and warehouse work spaces.
- Assist with inventory counts and inventory accuracy.
- Follow all company safety procedures, particularly those related to forklift operation and the handling of large-format slabs.
- Maintain warehouse equipment and report any equipment damage, maintenance concerns, or unsafe conditions.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
- Work cooperatively with warehouse, operations, purchasing, sales, and delivery teams.
Required Qualifications
- Previous warehouse experience, preferably within the natural stone, quartz, porcelain slab, counter top, tile, or building-material industry
. - Previous experience handling large-format slabs strongly preferred.
- Forklift operating experience required.
- Forklift certification/training preferred; candidate must be willing to complete Ceramic Matrix's required equipment and safety training.
- Experience loading and unloading trucks and containers.
- Understanding of safe lifting, material handling, and warehouse practices.
- Ability to identify and properly handle fragile and high-value materials.
- Strong attention to detail when selecting and staging customer orders.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate clearly with coworkers, drivers, customers, and management.
Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on warehouse position that requires regular physical activity. The employee must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive warehouse activities.
- Safely lift and move materials within company-established weight and safety guidelines.
- Work around forklifts, trucks, stone slabs, tile pallets, and other heavy materials.
- Work in both indoor warehouse and loading-area environments.
Large slabs must always be moved using approved equipment and proper safety procedures. Employees are not expected to manually lift or move slabs in an unsafe manner.
Safety Expectations
Safety is a critical part of this position. The Warehouse Associate is expected to:
- Follow all forklift and material-handling procedures.
- Never operate equipment in an unsafe manner.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow established procedures for securing, moving, loading, and unloading slabs.
- Immediately report damaged equipment, unstable material, damaged racks, or other unsafe conditions.
- Participate in company safety meetings and training.
