Part Time Academic Advisor, College of Education, West Plains

Missouri State University is hiring a Part Time Academic Advisor for the College of Education at the West Plains campus. The advisor will assist Elementary Education students with academic schedules, track their progress towards degree completion, provide information on Missouri teacher certification requirements, and support student retention and engagement activities.

• Advise College of Education students pursuing Elementary Education teacher certification.
• Assist students in developing academic schedules and monitoring progress toward degree completion.
• Provide information on state teacher certification requirements to undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate students.
• Support student retention through record keeping, engagement activities, and referral to university resources.
• Interact with prospective transfer students and students interested in switching to College of Education majors.
• Work hours:
  
  Monday through Thursday, 1pm to 6pm, subject to change.
• Hourly pay rate: $17.00 to $18.00.
• Minimum qualifications:
  
  Bachelor’s degree required;
  Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience preferred in academic advising, higher education, or K-12 employment.
• Required skills include excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication, problem-solving, and computer literacy; ability to work with diverse populations; capacity to work late afternoon and early evening hours.
