Job Description:

Purpose/Role

The Financial Aid Student Worker supports the Financial Aid Office by assisting with day-to-day administrative tasks, providing excellent customer service to students and families, and maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information. The role is designed to help students develop professional skills while contributing to the efficiency of the Financial Aid department.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Assist with general office tasks, including filing, data entry, and organization of documents.

* Greet and assist students, families, and staff with financial aid inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

* Answer phone calls, providing accurate information or directing inquiries to appropriate staff.

* Schedule appointments and assist with follow-up communications for the Financial Aid Office.

* Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies regarding the handling of sensitive student information.

* Support financial aid staff during peak periods, such as processing forms and preparing materials for outreach or events.

Rate of Pay

$9.50 per hour. Student employees cannot work more than 20 hours per week for all Work Study positions combined, or over 10 hours in a day. Student employees are paid bi-weekly. All Work

Study student employees will be paid by direct deposit.

Length of Employment

Start date varies by student. All Work Study employees will be terminated on or before the last day of the Spring Semester of each academic year. Evaluations are a factor in job retention and rehire.

Evaluation Procedures

Written performance evaluations shall be completed for each student employee and discussed with the student employee, to include comments, praise, or criticism in a constructive manner. Supervisors will indicate if they wish to continue employing the student through the next semester. A copy of the evaluation form shall be maintained by the supervisor, and the original copy given to the Financial Aid Office.

All student employees shall be evaluated at least once a term (or at the end of an assignment).

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

* Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

* Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Student workers must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress - no lower than 2.0 GPA and retain 67% of all classes.
