Role(s) -
The CKD Material Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the establishment and administration of the Purchasing Working Group. Ensuring the production line has a continuous supply of needed parts by monitoring inventory levels and purchasing processes, providing information to suppliers, working on trial builds and Purchase Orders, maintaining purchasing information, providing information for status reports, and analyzing part requirements.

Demonstrates adherence to company policies and procedures in support of safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale (SQDCM) initiatives. Embraces and promotes company core values to establish and maintain a culture committed to ethical practices, legal compliance, and a union-free environment. Takes initiative to participate in training and developing opportunities to prepare for current and future challenges.
CKD Purchasing Specialist oversees both parts procurement and logistics.
Core duties generally include:
- Material Ordering & Inventory:
Requisition and track part inventories to meet Just-in-Sequence (JIS) production demands. Analyze part requirements, issue purchase orders, and monitor trial builds. - Customs Clearance:
Monitor import trade policies, coordinate with customs brokers, verify HS-codes, and maintain vital shipping documents (e.g., Certificates of Origin, B/L). - Logistics & Demurrage Management:
Track shipping containers in transit, at ports, and age port detention and demurrage charges to control costs. - Shortage Reporting:
Present reports on part shortages, expediting delivery to prevent production downtime. - System Management:
Maintain accurate material data and financial transactions within enterprise resource planning tools like the SAP System and supplier portals.
Required
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is generally the baseline requirement, though a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics is highly preferred.
- 0 to 3 years of automotive industry experience for specialists
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Native or fluent bilingual proficiency in Korean and English (written and spoken) is required to coordinate heavily with overseas headquarters and suppliers.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and practical experience with SAP.
