Road & Rail Services is hiring a dependable Railcar Inspection Technician for our West Point, Georgia, operation. In this position, you will inspect, clean, and prepare railcars before they are placed into service for vehicle transportation.
This is an active, outdoor role that requires attention to detail, consistent attendance, and a strong commitment to safety. You will use backpack blowers, scraping tools, and other equipment to remove debris and materials that could damage vehicles during transport. You will also inspect railcars for damage and report conditions that may require repair.
Previous railroad experience is not required. We provide training for candidates who are safety-minded, willing to learn, and comfortable performing physical work in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll DoAs a Railcar Inspection Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Inspecting railcars for visible damage, wear, fatigue, and maintenance concerns
- Cleaning railcar interiors to prepare them for vehicle loading and transportation
- Using backpack blowers, scrapers, and hand tools to remove debris and contaminants
- Inspecting, opening, and closing railcar end doors
- Identifying railcar repairs that may be completed by Road & Rail Services
- Reporting damage, safety concerns, and equipment problems to management
- Maintaining assigned tools and equipment in safe working condition
- Keeping work areas clean, organized, and free of avoidable hazards
- Following all company, customer, and railroad safety policies
- Completing additional cleaning, inspection, and housekeeping duties as assigned
