Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer with a strong background in electronics manufacturing across both commercial and defense sectors. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems that ensure product compliance, reliability, and customer satisfaction — from prototype through full-rate production. The ideal candidate bridges the flexibility of commercial electronics with the rigorous documentation and traceability requirements of defense programs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead quality planning activities including FMEAs, control plans, inspection plans, and first-article inspection (FAI) for electronic assemblies and subassemblies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards including IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, MIL-PRF-31032, MIL-STD-461, and AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and lead corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities for internal and customer-reported nonconformances.
- Conduct supplier qualification audits, incoming inspection reviews, and source surveillance for critical electronic components and assemblies.
- Support design reviews and manufacturing process development to embed quality requirements from concept through production release (DFQ/DFM).
- Prepare and review quality documentation for government and prime contractor deliverables, including CDRLs, test reports, and certificates of conformance.
- Monitor production quality metrics (yield, defect density, scrap/rework rates) and drive continuous improvement using statistical methods and lean principles.
- Interface directly with government quality representatives (QARs/DCMAs) and customer quality teams during audits, inspections, and program reviews.
- 5+ years of quality engineering experience in electronics manufacturing
- Direct experience with defense/military electronics programs (MIL-SPEC, MIL-STD)
- Hands‑on knowledge of PCB/PCBA fabrication and assembly processes
- Proficiency with IPC‑A‑610 and J‑STD‑001 (CIS/CIT certification preferred)
- Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 QMS implementation and auditing
- Strong analytical skills: FMEA, SPC, and 8D/CAPA methodologies
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
- Familiarity with DCMA/DCAA oversight processes
- Experience with ESD control programs (ANSI/ESD S20.20)
- Knowledge of counterfeit parts avoidance (AS6174, AS5553)
- Familiarity with reliability testing (HALT, HASS, burn‑in)
- Experience in avionics, communications, radar, or weapons systems
