Director of Finance

A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Director of Finance to join its leadership team.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance & CFO, the Director of Finance will play a key leadership role within the finance function. This position oversees 2 direct reports and partners closely with the CFO, Controller, and cross-functional teams across the organization.

The role is responsible for both operational and strategic financial leadership, with a strong emphasis on reporting, compliance, and system/process improvements within a nonprofit environment.

• Oversee endowment accounting, treasury, and cash management functions
• Support construction and capital project accounting
• Manage portfolio and investment reporting and analysis
• Oversee contract administration and financial compliance processes
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure GAAP-compliant nonprofit reporting
• Lead financial reporting, audit support, and financial analysis
• Partner with leadership on system enhancements and process improvements
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis across departments

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience
• Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
• Experience with endowments, treasury, and financial reporting
• Financial Edge experience a plus (not required)
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
• MBA a plus
