General Definition of Work
Assists teachers by providing supplemental instruction and support to students in a variety of settings. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the building administration in conjunction with licensed teachers.

Essential Functions
- Assist teachers with classroom preparation and maintaining a learning environment conducive to learning.
- Adapt and modify materials/lessons as instructed by the classroom teacher.
- Provides appropriate instructional and behavioral feedback to students with support from the classroom teacher.
- Participates in school intervention team meetings as directed by the administration or designee.
- Assists with testing students in small groups or in one-on-one settings for school based and state level assessments.
- Collaborates with colleagues to continuously improve personal practice, classroom instruction, assessment and student achievement, as well as the overall goals and mission of the school and school division.
- Establishes, models practice and reinforces age-appropriate rules and logical consequences; assists with the implementation of the school behavioral support model.
- Track student progress and implement necessary interventions as the discretion of the teacher/administration.
- Assist teachers with clerical needs as appropriate.
- Basic knowledge of curriculum and program development for middle and high school students.
- General knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of a school setting.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, as well as, being a productive team member.
- Demonstrates flexibility and patience while working with a variety of students and staff.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Paraprofessional certificate.
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work frequently speaking or hearing and occasionally requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels;
work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
