Are You Ready to Orchestrate Complex Bridge and Highway Builds?

If you thrive on turning intricate plans into safe, high-quality structures, this role is for you. You will be the single point of contact guiding heavy civil projects from first schedule to final sign-off, keeping teams aligned and owners informed every step of the way.

Your Core Challenges
  • Can you manage every phase—from preconstruction through closeout—to hit schedule, budget, safety, and quality targets?
  • Will you build and maintain an accurate, resource‑loaded schedule (critical path included) that drives decision‑making?
  • Can you lead field supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors to execute as one team?
  • Do you spot risks early and resolve them before they impact the work?
  • Can you champion safety, quality, and environmental compliance on every activity?
  • Are you confident enforcing contract terms and ensuring all parties meet their obligations?
  • Will you process RFIs, submittals, and negotiate change orders quickly and accurately?
  • Can you track costs, forecast performance, and protect margin?
  • Do you know how to secure permits and validate subcontractor insurance and compliance?
  • Can you align procurement—materials, equipment, specialty services—to the needs of the schedule?
  • Will you mentor, coach, and evaluate team members to elevate performance?
  • Can you build strong relationships with owners, engineers, vendors, and agencies—and keep communication clear?
  • Are you able to run effective project meetings and deliver sharp monthly status reports?
  • Can you drive punch list completion, manage documentation (as‑builts, warranties), and obtain final approvals?
What It Takes to Win
  • Bachelor’s in engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • 10 years of progressive experience with a general contractor on large heavy highway/civil jobs.
  • Lifecycle mastery: precon, execution, and final closeout.
  • Persuasive negotiator with proven owner/sub‑vendor relationship‑building skills.
  • 5+ years leading people with measurable team development results.
  • Thrives in fast‑paced, high‑pressure settings without losing attention to detail.
  • Proficient with PM systems, scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project), and financial reporting.
  • Deep knowledge of grading, drainage, structures, and paving; roadway/structures background strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with VDOT standards, environmental compliance, and permitting workflows.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for construction and contributing to company success.
Why This Role

Every decision you make shapes critical public infrastructure. If you’re motivated by impact, accountability, and the satisfaction of a job built right, step in and lead.
