A day in this role
Sunrise finds you with the Guardrail Division, conducting pre-trip checks and getting your post driver truck ready. On site, you may jump between machines—motor grader, bulldozer, scraper, tractor, or front-end loader—to excavate, move, and grade earth, support structure erection, and help with concrete or other hard-surface paving. You’ll keep the iron running smoothly by lubricating, inspecting, and cleaning equipment throughout the shift.
Coreresponsibilities
- Operate a guardrail post driver truck and other heavy equipment to support guardrail installation and related civil work.
- Excavate, move, and fine-grade materials; assist with structure erection and concrete/hard-surface paving.
- Establish grades for roads, parking lots, and building pads; familiarity with GPS grade control is a plus.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including lubrication, inspections, and cleaning.
- 3–5 years of proven experience operating heavy construction equipment to build grades and support new construction.
- Ability to read grades and work across multiple machine types (grader, dozer, scraper, tractor, loader).
- Knowledge of GPS systems for setting grades is preferred.
- Reliable transportation to reach jobsites and yards.
