Laborer / Aide / Senior – Parks & Recreation Department

The West Sacramento Parks and Recreation Department consists of four separate functions: a Parks Division, Recreation Division, Early Learning Services and Tree Program. This position will serve a key role in the daily operations and maintenance of city parks, sports fields, trails Plugin ... open spaces, waterfront facilities, restrooms, homeless encampment cleanup, and other department‑associated work.

• Assists with the repair and maintenance of city streets, drainage systems, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and street trees.
• Performs general park clean‑up, maintenance, and improvement tasks including litter/trash pick‑up and removal, weeding, planting, sweeping and raking.
• Assists in general facilities maintenance, repair and operation activities including electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry work.
• May assist in the inspection and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems and other mechanical systems in city buildings.
• May assist in periodic and preventative maintenance on city facilities and equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the above referenced knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Must be at least misunderstood 18 years of age at the time of employment.

A valid California driver’s license may be required.

Field and construction site environment; exposure to dust, noise, heavy lifting, standing, climbing, bending, and use of heavy equipment. Work may be conducted at heights and in inclement weather conditions. Duties require mobility, strength, stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds with proper equipment.
