Job Description The primary role is to assist students with IEPs and 504 Plans with career and technical education (CTE) classroom content. While the Career and Technical Teacher is the subject‑area expert, the Inclusion Teacher is the expert in disabilities and accommodations. The Inclusion Specialist may also assist students who do not have an IEP or 504 Plan as part of the support provided to the class.
The Inclusion Teacher works with the Career and Technical Education Teacher to tailor assignments to individual students' needs and to provide scaffolding and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Essential Job Functions
1. Regular and punctual attendance.2. To be present at the assigned workstation (bus duty, hall duty, etc.) at the designated time.3. To serve as a role model for students and staff by demonstrating a positive attitude, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic.4. To participate in staff meetings and professional development activities and to be responsible for attending other meetings that may be called after school hours by the Principal/Director and/or the Executive Director.5. To assist and participate in recruitment, exploratory, and public relations activities that promote career-technical education.6. To plan and implement Individual Educational Programs (IEPs) that meet students' needs per IDEA.7. To provide services to assigned students so they may access the Chapter 74 curriculum in accordance with Massachusetts state frameworks.8. To accept and assume responsibility for the development and implementation of annual goals and specific objectives to meet each individual student's needs.9. To establish rapport and collaborate with other teachers, support staff, administration, parents, guardians, caregivers, and others.10. To maintain an accurate and complete student record for each student, including, but not limited to, educational progress, educational evaluation, attendance, and communications with other professionals, parents, guardians, or caregivers.11. To maintain and oversee the execution of the special education passport system and/or IEP management system, including verifying that all students' records have been forwarded by the home school.12. To complete and maintain student passports or other IEP management systems.13. To analyze and track inclusion compliance numbers in the general education setting.14. To submit reports and records, as required by the Collaborative, by sending school districts and/or state and/or federal laws and regulations, in a timely manner, to the program supervisor, administrator, and special education office.15. To gain experience with career and technical education teachers to support the success of students with disabilities during the Exploratory and One Day One Shop process.16. To establish a structured classroom to ensure safety and promote the educational progress of each student.17. To ensure services are provided to all students with disabilities and to serve as a liaison to teachers, parents, guardians, caregivers, and home schools.18. To support students with disabilities and the career and technical education teacher in facilitating the student's successful transition into the Career and Technical program.19. To maintain a communication system with parents, guardians, caregivers, teachers, students, and districts.20. To assist the classroom teacher in creating career and technical education task analysis, scaffolding workplace tasks, and chunking task-related assignments.21. To provide feedback and coaching to support career and technical education teachers in implementing IEPs, structuring classrooms, and developing behavior management plans.22.
