Job DescriptionThe Assistant Director of Finance is a full‑time, 260‑day position that supports the Director of Finance and Operations in the day‑to‑day management and oversight of the organization’s financial operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective fiscal management.
- Assist the Director of Finance and Operations with day‑to‑day management of the collaborative’s financial operations.
- Assist in the collection, safekeeping, and distribution of all funds, including accounts receivable and payable, warrant review and delivery, and the general ledger with accompanying journals.
- Record details of financial activities in journals and sub‑ledgers, reconcile accounts, and make corrections in the accounting system when necessary.
- Make recommendations for accounting policies and procedures to keep the financials in compliance with state and federal rules, regulations, guidelines, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Assist with fiscal modeling, trend analysis, forecasting, data collection, and projection for annual budget development and management, as well as ongoing fiscal matters.
- Assist with reconciliation and record State and Federal reports, including MTRS and State retirement.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts.
- Serve as the payroll backup for the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator during their absence.
- Manage grant activities and financial reimbursements.
- Maintain and compile supporting grant materials in accordance with the guidelines.
- Research and answer inquiries from various constituents regarding financial activities, leases, and general accounting.
- Serve as liaison with member school districts and town accountants to facilitate payments and support adequate cash flow.
- Assist external auditors in performing fiscal and/or compliance audits.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and reporting requirements.
- Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops as required by the Director of Finance and Operations to support ongoing learning and professional development.
- Contribute to office cross‑training efforts to maintain continuity and service quality for internal and external customers.
- Perform any additional general office duties as determined by the Executive Director or the Director of Finance and Operations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the department’s efficient and effective operation.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Ability to work additional hours when required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and exceptional customer service to staff, districts, and the community.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
- Experience with Tyler Technologies Enterprise ERP (Munis) or comparable financial systems highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
- Alternatives to these qualifications may be considered acceptable per LPVEC Board of Directors’ discretion.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in finance/accounting, government fund accounting, school or municipal finance, computerized financial management systems, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, grant management, and public purchasing.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous record‑keeping.
- Professional interaction with staff, district personnel, visitors, and community; demonstrates respect and confidence in LPVEC.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa as required.

Salary$76,470 to $88,180 Per Year
