Join our team as a Recruiting Intern and play a key role in building the workforce for the 2026 Big E — the forth largest public event in North America. As part of the Education & Human Resources Department at Eastern States Exposition (ESE), you will gain hands-on experience in high-volume recruiting, hiring, and onboarding for a large seasonal workforce. This is a fast-paced, people-centered opportunity to develop practical HR skills while contributing directly to the success of The Big
E.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Is highly organized and detail-oriented
- Thrives in a customer-centered environment
- Enjoys balancing busy recruitment days with focused administrative preparation
- Can work in person approximately 16–20 hours per week from mid-July through September 20 (with the possibility of extending through October
4)
- Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour
- Temporary, non-exempt position
- Eligible for academic credit if coordinated through your college or university
- Valuable hands-on HR experience in a large nonprofit event organization
- Meet with returning employees to review handbook policies and update employment records
- Assist new hires with onboarding paperwork, including I-9 verification and tax forms
- Support the facilitation of the annual Big E Job Fair
- Maintain detailed and accurate applicant and employee records
- Respond to phone and in-person inquiries professionally and courteously
- Help ensure all applicants have a positive and welcoming experience
- Collaborate with HR staff on seasonal hiring initiatives and special projects
- Currently pursuing or recently obtained a 2- or 4-year degree in Human Resources, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field
- Availability to work at least three days per week, with extended hours the week leading up to the fair
- Ability to work required weekend dates during opening weekend of The Big E
- Strong computer and data entry skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism
- Comfortable working independently while also coordinating with a team
- Prior office experience preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
