Roadside Assistance Driver - Battery

The Battery Service Tech is responsible for supporting and promoting the goals of the battery program and delivering safe, best‑in‑class roadside service solutions for AAA members. This role provides responsive and member‑centric support, ensuring positive experiences in Battery vehicle as assigned by management.

Battery Service Technicians respond to member requests for service within a given ETA, ensuring member safety and vehicle security; educate members on possible issues; provide jump starts, flat tire replacement, vehicle entries, and other related services, test batteries, install and replace batteries as needed, and promote AAA products and services.

Pay range: $21.50 - $24.20 per hour, based on skills, experience, and shift differentials. Annual bonuses and additional monthly/quarterly incentives may also apply. Employees also receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, financial (6% 401k match), and other benefits.

• Overnight shift (10pm-6am): $2.75 per hour
• Evening shift (6pm-10pm): $1.75 per hour
• Weekend hours: $1 per hour

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 10:30am-9:30pm

• Respond to members' requests for service
• Accept calls and respond to Dispatch or members with ETA to destination; call members to clarify the location and the potential vehicle issue when appropriate.
• Locate members and assess the safety of the scene on arrival to ensure the vehicle is in a safe location to provide service so as not to endanger the member or their traveling companions.
• Greet members and take action, as necessary, to deal with their emotional state (e.g. calming down someone who is angry, providing reassurance and advice to someone who is fearful or anxious).
• Communicate all aspects of the battery program clearly to the member, including the importance of testing and benefits of the program, and recommend the appropriate battery type.
• Report results of all diagnostic testing to the member, explaining what additional repairs may be necessary and providing referrals to AAR‑approved facilities.
• Maintain minimum performance standards in conversion, testing, and installs.
• Provide efficient minor mechanical assistance (if trained and equipped) and battery service.
• Respond to dispatch calls and perform diagnostic testing on a variety of disabled vehicle systems including electrical, battery, starting, charging, ignition, and fuel delivery.
• Make a preliminary determination of the best course of action and seek assistance if unsure.
• Perform battery testing using specialized equipment, perform maintenance on terminals, boost or replace batteries as necessary, provide battery boost as appropriate, install batteries on the spot, and call for tow if required.
• Maintain AAA high standard of service and image.
• Maintain service vehicle and equipment; conduct safety checks; inventory tools and products to ensure all service calls can be completed.
• Follow temporarily repaired vehicles to ensure member safety or transport members to their destination if vehicle towed, subject to Club policies.
• Operate laptop to record van activity, invoicing, cash and credit receipts, inventory.
• Inspect and maintain appearance and mechanical condition of the vehicle; restock sold batteries; test new stock; dispose of obsolete batteries per hazardous waste procedures; inventory all electronic testing equipment.
• Certify to operate a Battery Service Vehicle by attending required training and annual refreshers.
• Other duties may be assigned.
