Position: Chemical WW Tech 1 W. Springfield

Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for analysis and control of electroless nickel plating solutions, particularly electroless nickel/boron plating systems.
  • Is responsible for performing analysis on chemistries as required by production.
  • Is responsible for accurate record keeping of all analysis and chemical adjustments.
  • Is responsible for the operation of the wastewater treatment system and equipment.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that the wastewater effluent meets all requirements of the discharge permit.
  • Is responsible for the makeup of new chemical solutions.
  • Is responsible for additions of chemicals to chemical solutions.
  • Is responsible for chemical treatment, filtration, and transfer of chemical solutions.
  • Is responsible for proper disposal of chemical solutions.
  • Is responsible for accurate inventory record keeping of chemicals and supplies from receiving to decrements.
  • Is responsible for cleanliness of waste treatment and chemical storage areas.
  • Is responsible for maintaining all chemical handling equipment.
  • Must read, familiarize and follow completely department procedures and chemical handling safety rules.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that all containers are properly labeled.
  • Is responsible to support the production department.
  • Is responsible for proper labeling, storage, handling and disposal of hazardous waste.

  • Mass Waste Treatment Operators License Grade 2I or higher preferred
  • Massachusetts DEP requires general hazardous waste training every year under regulation 310 CMR 30.516. preferred
  • The US Department of Transportation requires general hazardous waste training every three years under regulation 49 CFR 107 and 171-180 preferred
