Job Overview

Security Staff for the Big E are responsible for providing a secure, safe, and friendly environment for all fair patrons, vendors, and staff. As part of the Big E Job Fair held on August 18, 2026, from 10am to 1pm, they are the first line of interaction with guests, where initial communication is critical.

They are expected to provide directions, assistance, first aid, fire safety, and law enforcement support when needed. Safety of staff and guests is paramount. Each shift will have a Sergeant as the primary liaison for Security Staff, reporting to Captains and the Director of Public Safety and Security. Security Staff must keep their supervisor apprised of all personnel and security matters during their shifts.

• Provide security for the Big E, including the preparation and execution of a safe and secure environment for staff and visitors.
• Identify potential safety concerns that require attention by the department, such as internal and external security, parking lots, adequate lighting, and customer service.
• Be available to vendors, be proactive and visible.
• Ensure easy access to the fairground for all emergency personnel responding to needs.
• Relate effectively to others using tact, diplomacy, and courtesy to both staff and visitors.
• Respond to any emergency situations in the area and maintain control until an area supervisor arrives.

• Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Professional appearance and proper wear of uniform.
• Organized, able to multitask, and able to assist local law enforcement and fire department personnel.
• Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods in varied weather conditions.
