Description
The West Springfield Park & Recreation Department seeks qualified individuals to fill Pool Manager positions for the Town of West Springfield's two outdoor public pools:
Alice Corson Pool located at 373 Main Street and Memorial Pool located at 51 Smyrna Street. Responsibilities include but are not limited to enforcing policies and procedures that ensure efficient and effective operation of pool facilities, including personnel management, training, first aid, rotations, staff scheduling, public relations, janitorial duties, limited pool maintenance (daily chemical analysis/testing, cleaning of bathrooms and other duties as necessary).
of Duties
- Prepare all work schedules for employees, ensuring lifeguards are on duty at all times the pool is open.
- Maintain staff rotations and staff breaks.
- Monitor activities adjacent to the pool areas to prevent injuries, accidents and maintain order.
- Enforce the West Springfield Park & Recreation Swimming Pool rules and regulations to staff and public.
- Maintain positive public relations at the swimming pool and contribute to the resolution of complaints and problems.
- Inspect buildings and equipment; perform routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities.
- Operate and maintain recreation facilities such as swimming pools, wading pools, and spray decks.
- Chemical analysis and application; assist in the testing of water quality.
- Notify supervisor of supply needs (pool chemicals, cleaning, and maintenance supplies).
- Assist with preparation of incident/accident reports, staff timesheets, attendance, cash reports, and other required reports as necessary.
- Ensure the proper upkeep and cleanliness of facilities, including cleaning of showers and restrooms, trash removal, and grounds maintenance.
- Meet with interested parties and the general public regarding the scheduling, use, and repair of facilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Shift: 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM or as assigned by the Aquatics Director. This position is seasonal (June 18, 2026 through August 16, 2026).
Salary: The salary range for this position is $19.00–$21.00 per hour, depending on experience and certifications held.
QualificationsMust be 18 years of age as of June 18, 2026. Requires a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have a valid MA driver’s license and the ability to acquire First Aid and CPR certifications within two weeks of hire. Must have excellent organizational, communication, and public relation skills and PC computer skills in Windows and Google platforms.
