Position Summary:The Communications Officer I performs both 9-1-1 call taking and public safety dispatch functions. Responsibilities include answering, evaluating, prioritizing, documenting, and routing emergency and non-emergency calls, as well as coordinating resources and communicating critical information to police, fire, and emergency medical responders. The position uses telephone, radio, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), and related systems while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in a continuous 24-hour operation.
