Job Summary
The Machining Technology Adjunct Faculty will provide instruction, outcomes assessment and facilitate students’ learning in the theory and practical application of machining concepts. This includes but is not limited to the following: GD&T, Machining Concepts, 3-Axis CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Manual Mill, Manual Lathe, Surface Grinding, Math for Machinists, and CNC Programming. The Adjunct Faculty will support learning in an in-person cohort learning model using lecture/lab instruction and completing all required reports and documentation.
This position will be assigned courses taught from 6-9pm or from 1:30-4:30pm at the Westpointe Campus. Other schedules may be evaluated.
This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available.
This position is paid at $1,056 per instructional unit.

- Instruct students through schedule lectures and self-paced labs, and ensure course learning outcomes are met
- Creates an effective, supportive learning environment for Salt Lake Technical College students.
- Evaluate student learning through labs and assignments
- Maintain student performance records
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work without close supervision in a team with diverse membership. Ability to take initiative and resolve problems.
- Ability to work within a prescribed curriculum and departmental procedures while maintaining patience, creativity, and cooperative attitude.
- Excellent attendance record and attitude.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, culture, ethnic background, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the College
- Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities
- Maintain in-depth knowledge in 3-axis mill and lathe CNC and manual machining topics
- Programming CNC machines with CAM, Master Cam preferred
- Understanding of the use and operation of CMM’s
- Comfortable using standard shop equipment including saws, grinders, and hand tools.
- Understanding of machinability of materials, and their cutting parameters
- Excellent working GD&T knowledge
You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/ Instructor on a contract-to-contract basis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment. Your employment may be terminated At Will at any time.
You are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students.
Minimum Qualifications
Salt Lake Technical College or equivalent certificate in CNC Machinist Technician or Manual Machining and 4 years of relevant industry experience,
or
6 years of relevant industry experience.
