Job TitleElementary Planning/PLC Assistant
Job SummaryThis position requires a dependable, student‑friendly and patient individual to work with K‑5th grade students in a classroom setting under the direction of the building principal and leadership team. The role will provide classroom instruction for students in grades K‑5, assisting classroom teachers and monitoring student engagement. Attendance and physical presence are required.
Essential Functions- Teach students skills to overcome barriers, foster cooperative and collaborative attitudes, and build self‑esteem.
- Monitor student participation to ensure learning and development.
- Follow district policy for attendance.
- Communicate as needed in the workplace.
- Implement mini‑lesson plans for the classroom setting.
- Form partnerships with students, teachers, and staff for student progress, goals, concerns, and accomplishments.
- Engage children with enthusiasm, variety, and novelty throughout the day.
- Attend required professional development opportunities to enhance skills in behavior management, job coaching, and monitoring.
- Complete reports, including daily records of student progress relative to mini lessons presented during Planning or PLC time.
- Work under the direction of the building administrator(s).
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Highly Qualified if in a Title 1 School.
- Dance experience required.
- Dance teaching experience preferred.
- Maintain a safe learning environment through best practice classroom management skills.
- Monitor student engagement during mini‑lessons.
- Basic reading, writing, math, organization, record keeping, and computer skills.
- Collaborate and share responsibilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Display patience and positivity.
- Make decisions concerning the best way to accomplish tasks assigned.
- Take directions well and work within specific guidelines.
- Make suggestions but follow directions.
- Ensure safety of self and others.
- Interact positively with students, parents, staff, teachers, administration, and other district personnel.
- Oversee the safety of students.

- Mainly in the classroom with moderate to loud noise levels.
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
- May work inside or outside the building in hot and cold weather.
- May experience stress from disruptive students or groups.
- Speak and/or hear; stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch; use hands to handle or feel; climb or balance occasionally.
- Require close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision.
- Stand or sit for long periods.
- Lift or move up to 50 lbs.
