Overview
Lead Product Design Engineer – Fans Portfolio
Location:
Corona, CA or Southern California;
Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC.
- Lead the end‑to‑end design process for ceiling fans, integrating AC/DC/BLDC motor technologies, motor controls, LED lighting, and smart‑home connectivity (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Alexa, Google Home).
- Conduct airflow, noise, and energy efficiency analyses to ensure product performance and compliance with UL/ETL, Energy Star, DOE, JA8/Title 24 standards.
- Develop and validate motor control circuits, LED driver systems, and smart‑home integrations for reliability and regulatory compliance.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials using Solid Works, Autodesk, or Creo.
- Oversee prototype builds, coordinate lab and field testing, and perform root‑cause analysis to solve performance issues.
- Collaborate with design, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to achieve Design for Manufacturability, cost efficiency, and product feasibility.
- Manage overseas suppliers (primarily in Asia) to meet specifications, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Drive initiatives for energy efficiency, cost optimization, and next‑generation technology integration.
- Deliver executive‑level updates on project progress and risks, and mentor junior engineers.
- Provide post‑production technical support for installation, warranty issues, and field troubleshooting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of consumer product development experience, including 3+ years focused on ceiling fans or similar motorized systems.
- Expertise in AC, DC, BLDC motor technologies and control methods (TRIAC, PWM, vector control).
- Proficiency with LED systems, driver integration, dimming, and thermal management.
- Experience with smart‑home technologies and wireless protocols (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Alexa, Google Home, MATTER).
- Advanced skills in 3D CAD software (Solid Works, Autodesk, Creo) and BOM management.
- Knowledge of safety and efficiency standards (UL/ETL, Energy Star, DOE, JA8/Title 24).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of power electronics, circuit design, and embedded motor control systems.
- Experience with supplier management and manufacturing processes in Asia.
- Proficiency in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and airflow simulation tools.
- Passion for innovation and smart‑home technology trends.
- Competitive salary ranging from $8,083.34 to $12,933.34 Monthly (Salaried roles) or hourly for other roles; bonus or incentive plan eligible.
