The Project Engineer role will have two main functions. The first is to own one or more product lines relating to one or more customers, including PCBAs, Oversight of Test, Box-Build tracking and coordination, NPI (New Product Introduction), scheduling/tracking, and documentation. The second function is to collaborate with the customer(s) as a technical PoC (Point of Contact). This Project Engineer will review customer data and requirements, and use them to create process flow, coordinate equipment and instrumentation for the manufacturing of product, and attend to all additional needs of the particular customer(s) and product line(s) with regard to a Project Management and Technical Product Lead.
They will provide daily support to the manufacturing of the build, troubleshooting of products and equipment, scheduling of service and maintenance, improvement of efficiencies, and quality. This role will report to the Plant Engineering Department Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the manufacturing floor daily operation, and drive continuous improvement in the product manufacturing process.
- Optimize and balance cycle times of manufacturing equipment.
- Create and assign tasking related to product(s) and customer(s).
- Design and implement methods and procedures to manufacture and/or assemble products in conformance to customer and industry specifications.
- Use engineering education and training to resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
- Create a methodical approach of building assemblies to meet customer expectations and deliverables.
- Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
- Analyze process defects of returned products and identify corrective actions.
- Prepare process and quality documentation and procedures.
- Construct and manage assembly time standards and support labor and material quoting.
- Compile and evaluate data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications.
- Must be able to learn and support the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system and Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) system used to run a manufacturing operation from an engineering standpoint.
- Will supervise the activities of others, directly and/or indirectly.
- Other technical and project management tasks as directed.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in an engineering or technical capacity.
- High computer proficiency.
- Ability to maintain level emotions under a high pressure situation from customers and manufacturing work demand.
Preferred:
- Successful experience in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment.
- Experience with or knowledge of IPC-610 and ANSI J STD 001 standards.
