As an Electrical
Engineer
, you will be responsible for the design of electrical distribution and control systems under the supervision of the Chief E&I Engineer. You will support the Electricity and Instrumentation (E&I) service through the different phases of each project: feasibility, design, construction and commissioning.
- Develop single line, schematic and termination diagrams.
- Develop electrical load lists, equipment lists, cable schedules and material take-offs.
- Develop specifications and datasheets for the procurement of electrical equipment, instruments and control systems.
- Research, design and evaluate electrical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements by applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Complete and work in a timely fashion with a diligent attitude, while focusing on safety during work and safety in designs.
- Liaise with vendors, clients, draftspersons, interdisciplinary engineers (process, structural, mechanical, etc.) and other key stakeholders for the duration of design activities.
- Provide site support during construction and commissioning project phases.
- Provide direction to draftspersons during design activities to ensure drawing output meets engineering requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering;
- Minimum 3-7 years of relevant experience in electrical design;
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required (Utah preferred; any U.S. state license will be considered)
- Experience with low and medium voltage systems is an asset; specify transformers, switch gear/MCC, VFDs and generators.
- Experience with PLC instrumentation and control systems is an advantage.
- Expertise with ETAP, familiarity with AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of CEC and IEC codes.
- Experience in the mining or oil/gas industry with on-site work during construction and commissioning.
- Ability to develop equipment specifications, electrical equipment lists and other deliverables
- Ability to develop and understand electrical engineering calculations.
- Possess a high level of analytical ability used to solve complex problems.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Provide assistance, as needed or as directed, to deliver a quality product on time and on budget.
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings, schematics and other engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in Windows XP, Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
- 40 hours per week
