Controls Engineer

Role Description The Controls Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in West Valley City, UT. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems that support data center power, cooling, and critical infrastructure. Daily tasks include developing and programming control logic, monitoring system performance, diagnosing issues, and coordinating corrective actions to maintain reliability and efficiency. The Controls Engineer collaborates closely with electrical and mechanical teams, vendors, and operations staff to support system upgrades, commissioning activities, and preventive maintenance.

The role also involves documenting control strategies, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in Building Control, with experience designing and optimizing control strategies for complex systems.
• Applied Electrical Engineering skills related to power distribution, instrumentation, and control panels in industrial or data center environments.
• Strong Troubleshooting abilities for diagnosing, testing, and resolving issues in control systems and related equipment.
• Experience with Motion Control systems, including configuration and maintenance of drives, actuators, and related automation components.
• Niagara 4 certification is an absolute must (proficiency in equivalent systems might be considered depending on experience)
• Proficiency with PLCs, controllers, DDC systems, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP).
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work on-site in West Valley City, UT, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and adhere to safety and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in data centers, industrial facilities, or mission-critical environments is a plus.
