Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager
We are seeking a Business Controller to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah
. In this role with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials, you will help build and drive financial and operational strategy for our ready‑mix and asphalt divisions across the Western U.S. You will be responsible for the accuracy of inventory balances and for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all transactions throughout the inventory cycle, including billing, revenue recognition, purchasing, and cost of goods sold.
This role also oversees monthly cycle counts, identifies and reconciles discrepancies, and assists with the review and maintenance of inventory standard costs. In addition, you will review and analyze financial statements and operating results for plants across Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Wyoming. Working closely with the VP of Finance for the West Region, you will support operational managers in understanding and interpreting their individual results.

- Inventory Accuracy:
Execute and oversee monthly cycle counts. - Discrepancy Reconciliation:
Investigate quantity and location variances between system records and physical stock, resolving issues through root‑cause analysis. - Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review monthly financial reports, including analysis of stock‑on‑hand, valuation and obsolescence provisions. - Process Improvement:
Develop and implement standard operating procedures as we transition into our parent company’s accounting software. - Compliance & Audits:
Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for inventory valuation and coordinate with external auditors. - Manage and oversee the work of 2 assistant inventory controllers.
- Education:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. - Experience:
2‑5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or accounting within a manufacturing or retail environment. - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite) and advanced Microsoft Excel. - Soft Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and the ability to communicate technical data to non‑financial stakeholders.
