Utah Tank & Trailer is seeking a highly skilled Fabricator / Welder / CNC Operator to join our growing fabrication department. We build and repair equipment that keeps the transportation industry moving, and we’re looking for someone who takes pride in producing quality work.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an experienced professional who can work independently, produce high-quality craftsmanship, and contribute to a team focused on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel.
  • Fabricate parts and assemblies from blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
  • Operate CNC press brakes, CNC mills, and CNC plasma tables.
  • Operate manual fabrication equipment including lathes and shears.
  • Measure, cut, fit, and assemble fabricated components.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
  • Maintain fabrication equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Work safely while meeting production schedules and quality expectations.
Qualifications Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of fabrication and welding experience
    .
  • Experience welding aluminum, steel, and stainless steel.
  • Experience operating CNC press brakes.
  • Experience operating CNC mills.
  • Experience operating CNC plasma tables.
  • Experience operating manual lathes and shears.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Preferred
  • CAD or CAD/CAM experience.
  • TIG welding proficiency.
  • Experience in heavy truck, trailer, tanker, or industrial equipment fabrication.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience.
Essential Functions

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel.
  • Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair metal components and equipment according to specifications, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Set up and safely operate fabrication equipment, including CNC press brakes, CNC mills, CNC plasma tables, manual lathes, shears, saws, grinders, and other shop machinery.
  • Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, fabrication drawings, CAD drawings, and written instructions.
  • Measure, cut, fit, and inspect materials to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Perform layout work and determine proper fabrication methods for custom fabrication projects.
  • Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of shop equipment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers while contributing to a safe and productive workplace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support fabrication shop operations.
Physical Requirements

To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, candidates must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and work in confined or awkward positions.
  • Regularly lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
    , and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance or approved lifting devices.
  • Push, pull, and maneuver heavy materials using manual effort or material-handling equipment.
  • Perform repetitive movements involving the hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders while welding, grinding, cutting, measuring, and assembling components.
  • Reach above shoulder height and below waist level while performing fabrication and assembly tasks.
  • Safely operate welding equipment, fabrication machinery, forklifts, overhead cranes, and other shop equipment after appropriate training.
