Mechanical Quality Control Specialist - Construction

Overview

Doyon Technical Services, LLC (DMS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Doyon Government Group (DGG), provides design-build and general construction services for demolition, new construction, renovations, repairs, and civil projects at government-owned facilities and military installations.

The Mechanical Quality Control Specialist is a project-based Mechanical QC position supporting a 5-month federal construction project for Hill AFB, Utah.

• Be physically present on the project site during mechanical features of work as required
• Monitor mechanical construction activities for compliance with applicable project drawings, specifications, and approved requirements
• Observe mechanical installation, workmanship, and materials and communicate potential deficiencies or nonconforming work to the project Quality Control Manager and project team
• Review applicable mechanical drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and RFIs as needed to support field quality control activities
• Coordinate with the Quality Control Manager, Superintendent, project team, and mechanical subcontractors regarding mechanical features of work
• Support required inspections, testing, and verification activities associated with mechanical construction
• Document mechanical field observations and provide information required for project quality control records and reports
• Participate in preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections for mechanical features of work as requested
• Verify that identified mechanical deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate project personnel for correction
• Assist with mechanical punch list, pre-final inspection, final inspection, commissioning, and closeout activities as applicable
• Attend project, quality control, or mechanical coordination meetings as requested
• Follow applicable project safety, environmental, and site-specific requirements
• Perform other mechanical quality control duties related to the project as assigned

• Must meet one of the following qualification requirements:
  • Mechanical Engineer with a current Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration and a minimum of two years of experience; or
  • Minimum of five years of experience supervising mechanical features of work in the field for a construction company
• Ability to be physically present on the project site during mechanical features of work
• Working knowledge of mechanical construction methods, materials, equipment, and installation practices
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, and related technical requirements
• Ability to effectively communicate field observations and coordinate with project personnel, subcontractors, and quality control staff

• Previous mechanical quality control, inspection, or construction supervision experience
• Experience working on federal, military, USACE, NAVFAC, or other government construction projects
• Familiarity with construction quality control processes and mechanical inspection requirements
• Familiarity with project documentation systems and standard Microsoft Office applications

The majority of the work is performed in an indoor/outdoor setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.

An individual will be required to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Light Work:
