Overview
Applied Signal Technology (AST) is seeking a Software Engineer II to strengthen national security with advanced SIGINT solutions. The role is onsite in Salt Lake City, UT, and requires a TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. Bring your expertise in C++ and Linux environments to design, test, and integrate mission‑critical software.
What You Will Do- Participate in the requirements, design, development, and testing of new and existing software products and systems.
- Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
- Participate in internal reviews of software components and systems.
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineering professionals.
- Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.
- Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience developing in modern programming languages (e.g., C++) in a Linux environment.
- Good working knowledge of data structures and efficient problem solving.
- Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python).
- Experience working with containerized software and associated tools (Kubernetes, Helm, Podman).
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
- U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
- Experience with multithreading.
- Experience working both in a team environment and individually.
- Experience with network protocols such as TCP/IP.
- Experience with Qt and user interface development.
- Experience with Angular web GUI development.
- Embedded software design experience.
- Experience integrating software with hardware.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as git.
- Experience maintaining and using build processes (makefiles, CMake).
- Familiarity with event‑driven systems and messaging platforms such as Kafka.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and gRPC.
- Experience with or basic understanding of telecommunications systems concepts and/or signal processing.
- Experience with or basic understanding of ITU standards.
- Active, transferable TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
