.
This position will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of a small accounting team, while maintaining hands-on accounting duties themself. The ideal candidate will have strong corporate accounting experience within the Gov Con sector, with hands‑on ownership of full-cycle accounting duties through month-end close and financial reporting . Strong team leadership and
mentorship experience will be an important requirement as well. In addition, this candidate should bring a strong educational background in accounting, practical GAAP knowledge and experience, along with extensive knowledge of Gov Con and
Federal Accounting Compliance , such as DCAA
, FAR
, and
CAS
.
- Oversee daily accounting functions, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Manage accounts receivable/payable, payroll, revenue recognition, fixed assets, and cash management.
- Implement process improvements, relevant accounting processes, and controls that are scalable and audit-ready.
- Manage relations with any outsourced accounting or auditing services and coordinate all closing activities.
- Lead any accounting operations process or system improvement initiatives as necessary.
- Assist the VP of Finance with additional duties in treasury operations, banking relationships, financing, and other areas.
- Ensure regulatory and tax compliance for federal, state, and local requirements.
- Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, DCAA, FAR, and CAS.
- Oversee commission reporting and revenue reconciliations.
- Lead external audit processes from preparation through completion.
- Manage an accounting team of four (4) to ensure smooth day-to-day accounting operations and tasks are completed.
- Review and adjust KPIs and performance metrics and provide support to team members as necessary.
- Be a coach and mentor to help facilitate further expansion of knowledge and growth within the team.
- Support the team and company throughout their growth trajectory, including potential for international business needs.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- 7+ years of Full-Cycle, Corporate Accounting experience with strong GAAP knowledge and Gov Con industry experience.
- 2+ years of leadership experience Managing Accounting Operations.
- A capable communicator with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
- Software:
Strong MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) and Unanet ERP system experience are required.
