This position is open to Graduate Students only. Full tuition waiver plus monthly stipend provided. Can be renewed for additional academic terms based on satisfactory performance of duties and student enrollment as a CU graduate student.
Graduate Assistant Resident DirectorReporting to the Director of Housing and Residence Life, the Graduate Assistant Resident Director is responsible for assisting with the management of one or more residence halls on the Concord University Campus. This is a live-in position that includes an on-campus apartment including utilities. In addition, on a rotating basis, the Graduate Resident Director and on-duty Public Safety Officer are the University's point persons for emergency response on weekends and weeknights.
The applicant must have at least two semesters of experience in Residence Life and be enrolled in a graduate program at Concord University (minimum 6 credit hours per semester). The Graduate Resident Director position requires a commitment to providing residential students with a safe living environment that fosters a strong sense of community, academic success, personal responsibility, and inclusiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities
Day to Day physical and administrative operations of Residence Hall (including, but not limited to):
Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to, room inspections, managing check-in and check-out, completing occupancy reports, completing incident reports, reporting and following up with work orders, stocking residence hall offices with all necessary paperwork and supplies, accompanying outside contractors, responding to lock outs, monthly safety reports, updating housing literature, and maintaining in-hall office hours. Perform night duty rounds approximately once a week and weekend duty rounds approximately once a month.
Select, train, directly supervise, and evaluate all paraprofessional Resident Assistant and Desk Assistant staff employed in area(s) of supervision. Participate in development and implementation of programming activities, both on and off campus. Ensure that residents are aware of and adhering to the Residence Hall Policies and Procedures. Work with Facilities and Maintenance to ensure the physical needs of the Residence Halls are maintained.
Maintain a close relationship with the Office of Public Safety. Various forms of involvement in the University judicial system. Respond to emergencies in the residence halls, defuse residential conflicts and crises, and provide mediation. Instruct staff and residents on fire safety, general evacuation procedures, and emergency protocols. Understanding and compliant with confidentiality, FERPA, and sensitive information. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Housing and Residence Life.
