Job Title:
Project Manager - Construction (Non-IT)
Job Description
This contract-to-hire role offers an on-site Project Manager the opportunity to lead capital construction and renovation projects within advanced automotive manufacturing facilities in Buffalo, West Virginia and Princeton, Indiana. You will manage projects from concept through completion, balancing scope, schedule, budget, and quality while ensuring strict adherence to rigorous construction safety requirements. The position combines hands-on project leadership, stakeholder coordination, and detailed reporting, and offers strong potential for advancement and long-term growth.
The role requires periodic travel to project sites and other account locations and provides support from a broader project and development services team.
Responsibilities
+ Manage assigned capital construction projects and facility studies from initiation through closeout, maintaining control of scope, schedule, budget, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
+ Act as the primary on-site contact for general contractors, architects, engineers, and plant stakeholders, building collaborative relationships that keep projects moving forward efficiently.
+ Run requests for proposals (RFPs), lead bid leveling exercises, and support contractor selection processes to ensure competitive and qualified project delivery partners.
+ Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and budgets, monitor progress against targets, and proactively escalate risks or potential delays to account leadership.
+ Ensure strict compliance with construction safety programs and Toyota Construction Safety Requirements (TCSR), including managing D-form approvals, verifying contractor personnel certifications, and maintaining required on-site presence during high-risk activities.
+ Lead or support the review and negotiation of change orders to protect project budgets, timelines, and quality expectations.
+ Prepare and deliver clear, client-ready status materials, including executive summaries, budget and schedule updates, and progress photography for weekly and monthly reporting.
+ Coordinate with the broader account team to manage cross-project scheduling conflicts and concurrent high-risk construction activities across the facility.
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation in project management platforms, currently Adaptive Work, while supporting the transition to and use of Procore.
+ Oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously, similar to a Construction Coordinator role but with expanded responsibilities and autonomy.
+ Support knowledge sharing and account-wide coordination by traveling periodically to other account locations and participating in team meetings.
+ Ensure that construction activities are planned and executed around operational constraints in active manufacturing environments, minimizing disruptions to production.
+ Apply construction management best practices on the project management side, including planning, coordination, and oversight of field execution.
+ Support continuous improvement by identifying project risks early, recommending mitigation strategies, and implementing lessons learned on future projects.
+ Contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration by consistently modeling professional communication and accountability.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in construction project management.
+ Minimum 5 years of experience managing commercial, industrial, or manufacturing construction projects with demonstrated success delivering projects on time and within budget.
+ Strong understanding of construction safety programs and protocols, with the ability to enforce compliance requirements in an active manufacturing environment.
+ OSHA 30-hour certification, or willingness to obtain it, with support provided during the assignment.
+ Proficiency with project scheduling and budgeting tools, with working knowledge of platforms such as Adaptive Work, Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar project management systems.
