Location: Bruceton Mills
DENTAL ASSISTANT
Location: 1640 Sky View Drive, Bruceton Mills, WV 26525
Schedule: 40 hours per week, 7.5 to 10 hour sessions per day, Monday–Friday (except holidays), between 6:00 AM–6:00 PM
Qualifications- US Citizen
- Minimum Experience/Training: 6 month experience or completion of a 1‑year CODA‑accredited dental assistant program, or equivalent education and experience.
- Provide resume and supporting documentation including diplomas and certificates.
- Completion of a dental radiologic safety program or educational course.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience providing healthcare in a correctional setting.
- Completion of a dental radiologic safety program (preferred).
- Assist Dental Officer in specialty sections: restorative oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, examinations, and documentation.
- Retrieve patient records; escort patients to appropriate specialty sections; seat and prepare patients.
- Prepare instruments, materials, drugs, and medications; pass instruments, retract tissues, irrigate oral cavity, operate aspirators; observe patient responses; assist with patient dismissal; provide instructions for follow‑up appointments; record entries in dental treatment records; prepare treatment room for next patient; assist in emergency cases.
- Maintain dental equipment; clean, sharpen, and sterilize instruments; perform daily inspections and inventory; repair minor defects; report problems.
- Repair dental prostheses and appliances under supervision; perform daily inspections and repairs of complete and removable partial dentures using acrylic and porcelain.
- Document and review patient records; conduct audits with BEMR and Sentry; maintain proper documentation.
- Take radiographs using standard dental radiographic techniques; obtain diagnostic quality periapical, occlusal, lateral, jaw, TMJ, and panoramic images; minimize radiation exposure; upload images to BEMR.
- Perform and interpret quality assurance checks on radiographic techniques; maintain infection control procedures; sterilize contaminated waste several times daily.
- Follow guidelines for emergency professional therapy as directed by attending dentist.
- Place and finish dental restorations; make primary impressions and pour casts; perform tooth shade selection for composite restorations and dentures.
