AdditionalJob Description
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seek an Adolescent Medicine physician (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
DutiesThe successful candidate will join our group of two adolescent medicine physicians, including full-time clinical and combination clinical-research faculty with funding through NIH and private funding mechanisms.
Clinical ResponsibilitiesClinical responsibilities will include seeing adolescent and young adult patients with duties that focus on the general adolescent clinic. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students and residents.
QualificationsCandidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a pediatrics, medicine/pediatrics, or family medicine residency program. Candidates that have completed an adolescent medicine fellowship program are preferred but not required.
Hospital DetailsOur 150 bed Golisano Children's Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently.
There is also a Birthing Center including a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.

The Health System is comprised of 25 hospitals - including J.W. TravelDepending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.
