Overview
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Critical Care seek a Trauma Surgeon (ranks available:
Assistant Professor
, Associate Professor
, or Professor
). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
- Practice in the areas of trauma, acute care surgery and critical care. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Responsibilities include trauma, surgical critical care, and elective and emergency general surgery.
- Opportunities for involvement in outreach, injury prevention, pre-hospital education and research are encouraged.
- MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and eligible for state medical license.
- Completed a general surgery residency program.
- Completed a critical care fellowship program.
- Board certified / eligible in surgery. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
The Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center is one of only 2 Level One trauma centers for the state of WV. The Center treats over 3,000 trauma patients per year with approximately 2,100 admissions to the service each year. The service has support from dedicated advance practice providers.
The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia's largest health system and the state's largest employer.
