Itinerant Middle School Alternative Learning Center Teacher
LOCATION:
Robert Bland Middle School
POSITION TYPE:
Middle School Teaching / Secondary Education Teacher
CERTIFICATION:
Must possess a valid West Virginia teaching certificate for grades 6‑8, Special Education Certification, and Alternative Education Certification. If an applicant does not hold the Special Education and/or Alternative Education Certification, they must qualify and secure certification.
- Experience or knowledge in working with at‑risk students
- Experience or understanding of de‑escalation strategies
- Provide support and professional development for staff members when they don't have students
- Collaborate with students' teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive behavioral supports for ALC students
- Prepare and implement behavioral/social lessons based upon students' individual needs
- Participate in SAT, IEP, and 504 meetings as needed
- Report to ALC Principal and building principal (as needed)
- Regularly communicate with students' parents/guardians
- Support teachers, students, and parents/guardians during the transition process (both into ALC setting and out to school environment)
- Collaborate with classroom teachers for student and classroom lessons and resources
SALARY:
Commensurate with certification and experience
TERM: 200 days (prorated)
REPORTS TO:
ALC Principal
