Adjunct - Nursing LPN; Lecture and Clinical Instruction

West Virginia Northern Community College is seeking applicants for part-time adjunct faculty in the field of Nursing in the LPN Program
.

Adjunct faculty serve as temporary faculty whose appointments are for a specific limited period. Adjunct faculty are eligible to receive reappointment; however, no number of appointments shall create any presumption of a right to reappointment or designation as tenured or full-time faculty. Adjunct faculty have instructional responsibilities consistent with the laws, rules, and procedures which guide all College faculty.

Compensation for adjunct faculty is determined according to credit hours or equivalent, with credit hours not normally exceeding 9 hours per semester or 18 hours per academic year, excluding summer sessions.

This is NOT a remote position.

• Directly supervise students in the clinical setting
• Provide feedback on students’ performance and weekly clinical paperwork on the Clinical Performance Evaluation Tool
• Facilitate clinical experience on assigned days and hours based on the clinical schedule
• Be proficient using the Electronic Health Record and medication administration system of the assigned facility
• Complete required onboarding of the assigned Health Care Facility
• Submit required health information according to the affiliation agreement of the clinical facility
• Role model evidence‑based nursing practice
• Communicate student concerns to the course lead and Nursing Program Director
• Contribute to course and program assessments
• Use WVNCC adjunct email for all communications with students, faculty, and staff
• Refer students to support services as needed

• Minimum of RN status and a BSN or enrollment in a bachelor’s program with a completion target within 5–7 years
• At least 2 years of recent direct patient care experience in nursing practice
• Current, unencumbered RN license in West Virginia or a valid multi‑state compact license
• Current and active Basic Life Support Certification (American Heart Association)

• Unofficial transcripts are accepted with the application. Official transcripts are required within 30 days of hire date.
• If transcripts are from an international institution, the applicant must have them translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator.

• Keep up to date with information and practices in the discipline in which they teach
• Stay current with practices of the teaching profession
• Maintain currency in the use of communication and instructional technologies to provide students with skills needed for the global workplace
• Participate in and utilize College‑provided workshops, materials, and/or online tutorials designed to assist faculty

• Understand and interpret the mission and vision of the College
• Understand and interpret the academic and student policies relevant to the courses they teach
• Know what academic support services are available and refer students appropriately for that support
