Primary FunctionInstruct students in subject matter utilizing various teaching methods, such as lecture and demonstration, using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentation.
Major Classroom Responsibilities- Implementing his/her program of study.
- Fostering a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Utilizing instructional management system which increases student learning and maximizing time on task.
- Monitoring student progress toward learning outcome.
- Maintaining and upgrading his or her professional skill.
- Promoting and maintaining positive pupil teacher parent relations.
- Maintaining professional work habits.
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings.
- Attend educational conferences and teacher workshops.
- Perform related duties such as sponsoring one or more special activities or student organizations.
- Is accountable to the principal for performance of assigned duties.
- Relates role to the building and system wide programs and objectives.
- Coordinates work with members of their particular department.
- In-class behavior:
There is evidence that the pupils assigned to certain courses for which the instructor is responsible have achieved established objectives. - Out of class behavior:
There is evidence that the instructor has developed behavior that results in effective cooperation with his colleagues and lay persons.
- Graduate of a four (4) year college.
- Function effectively as a member of an instructional team.
- Maintain strong commitment to the subject matter that he/she teaches.
- Works effectively with the community.
- Has ability to adapt to differences and changes in pupil characteristics.

CONTRACT LENGTH 210 days
COMPENSATION Salary based on experience and education level per Mingo County salary schedule. Expected range: $46,783 – $79,251.
Health and basic life insurance provided through West Virginia's Public Employees Insurance Agency. Health insurance premiums, which vary by plan and coverage level, split 80/20 between employer and employee. Basic life insurance provided at no cost to the employee.
Position requires enrollment in the Teachers Retirement System through West Virginia Consolidated Public Retirement Board. New enrollees contribute 6% of gross salary with a matching contribution by the Board of 7.5%. Vestment requires 10 years of qualified service. Withdraw of employee contributions available upon leaving employment with a WV county board of education if desired.
15.75 annual days of personal leave provided, pro‑rated for those hired after the start of the current employment term. Up to 4 days may be used each school year without cause pursuant to state and local policies.
State attendance incentive ($500) provided for those who use 4 or fewer days of personal leave each school year.
Additional benefits at the employee's expense.
Applicants who have unsatisfactory evaluations, have been dismissed or had their contracts non‑renewed for cause by another school district will not be considered eligible for consideration.
