Job Description
Qualifications and Skills:
- Hold Valid West Virginia Teacher Certification/Licensure in an area related to the instruction of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.
- Must have a minimum of fifteen (15) years classroom teaching experience.
- Meet minimum standards for certification as set forth by the West Virginia Department of Education in Minimum Standards for Licensure of West Virginia School Personnel.
- Administration certificate preferred.
- Satisfactory evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers and/or supervisors.
- Exhibits knowledge of the duties and responsibilities as demonstrated in the personal interview.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel and parents.
- Educational philosophy comparable with the Doddridge County Board of Education philosophy, mission statement and core beliefs.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.
- Exhibits knowledge of current instructional strategies and technology.
- Preference is given to those individuals who can demonstrate a deep knowledge of the pedagogy associated with the implementation of the job responsibilities, including successful intervention and analyzing data.
- Must be able to share the foundational components and latest research of instructional practice, interventions, technology and assessment.
- Preference given to those individuals who can demonstrate effective coaching, communication, and knowledge of strategies to implement the county goals for improved instruction.

Responsibilities:
All professional educators must: maintain valid educator licensure at all times, renew educator licenses as set forth by WVDE, maintain positive work habits, perform duties as assigned and directed, maintain and upgrade professional skills, communicate effectively and exhibit professional teaching knowledge and strategies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide support and assistance to classroom teachers in the full and skillful implementation of reading/language arts when requested by principals.
- Assist teachers in planning, sequencing, and scaffolding instruction when requested by principals.
- Facilitate the integration of reading skills, writing and vocabulary into the ELA classrooms when requested by principals.
- Assist principals and teachers in the evaluation of diagnostic results and future instruction based on those results.
- Model techniques for effective delivery of instruction in writing in K‑8 classrooms.
- Establish a rapport and maintain constructive interaction with administration, staff, parents and students.
- Communicate effectively with administration, staff, parents and students.
- Demonstrate an understanding of best practices in the area of reading and writing and encourage teachers to apply these before, during and after reading.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices.
- Serve as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions in ELA to improve student achievement for all students.
- Assist principals with Professional Learning Communities/Grade Level Teams in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve student achievement as needed.
- Assist principals as needed in setting goals for improved instruction.
- Meet regularly with administrators to review assessment data and to assess outcomes.
- Present data at Board of Education Meetings when requested.
- Conduct small group intervention with students as directed by data to ensure student growth.
- Provide a multi‑tiered intervention and enrichment system for ELA.
- Monitor student progress toward mastery of instructional standards.
- Assist in designing and implementing Summer School Program and serve as Administrator for Summer Program.
- Meet professional responsibilities.
- Perform all other duties and services assigned by the administration relevant to the successful implementation of the District ELA goals, intervention and supplemental programs.
Term: 261‑day contract (To begin the 2026‑2027 school year).
